Ram Mandir Live Updates: Ayodhya is preparing for a momentous ceremony to consecrate a new idol of Lord Ram in the Ram Janmabhoomi temple - Ram Mandir on January 22.
The ritual known as 'Pran Pratishtha' began on January 16 and has drawn devotees from across India to witness this historic event. They view the inauguration of the Ram idol as the fulfillment of a decades-long campaign to build a temple on the contested site believed to be the deity's birthplace.
Outside of Uttar Pradesh, people across India have decorated their homes in anticipation of the Pran Pratishtha like a religious holiday. The consecration coincides with Makar Sankranti, lending the festivities even greater significance.
In Ayodhya itself, the streets are adorned with flowers and lights. After years of legal disputes, Hindus are excited to finally see a Ram temple stand on the sacred ground of Ram Janmabhoomi.
