Rajasthan’s first heritage train was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Jodhpur recently. The iconic train, known as the ‘Valley Queen Heritage Train,’ will now commence its journey from Marwar Junction to Khamlighat in the Pali district.

This train service aims to provide on-boarders with a special experience and will take you to an era of rich heritage and history of Rajasthan’s railways.

Well, this train can carry 60 passengers at a time. Apart from its historic look and features, the heritage train will be fully air-conditioned with large windows on each side, where you can witness the scenic views of the Goram Ghat, which is also called Mini Kashmir of the state and the highest point of the Bhil Beri waterfall. Interestingly, the design of the train is a replica of the 150-year-old steam engine along with offering a picturesque, which passes through several beautiful valleys, and hills showcasing the beauty of flora and fauna.

Now, if you are willing to go on this soothing adventure, make sure to Marwar Junction before 08: 00 am in the morning as it departs at 08:30 am and will reach Kamlighat at 11:00 am. After starting from Marwar, the train will stop at Phulad, where it will have a stoppage of 25 minutes. It will run 4 days a week. Then, it will begin its return journey from Kamlighat around 3 pm and will back to Marwar at 05: 30 pm in the evening.

What’s ticket price of Valley Queen Heritage Train?

Interestingly, the ticket for your journey in Rajasthan’s first heritage train will only cost Rs 2,000.

During its inauguration, BJP MP Divya Kumari shared a video of her travelling in a train, saying, “Today attended the virtual inauguration ceremony of Rajasthan’s first heritage train “Valley Queen” running from Marwar Junction to Kamlighat station and enjoyed the train journey from Marwar Junction to Kamlighat. During this time, we sat with children, women and other passengers and looked at the picturesque views of the beautiful and enchanting valleys of Goram Ghat.”

Heritage trains of India

Notably, the UNESCO accorded World Heritage Sites to namely four railway lines- Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (1999), Nilgiri Mountain Railway (2005), Kalka Shimla Railway (2008) and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Mumbai (2004). Matheran Light Railway and Kangra Valley Railway are the other two in the tentative list, according to the Indian Railways.
