Caring for the skin becomes necessary as we age because pollution and ageing damage the skin, which begins to lose its elasticity and shine and develops wrinkles. Thus, to maintain healthy and plush skin, women opt for facials to eliminate harmful pollutants, cleanse the skin and provide nutrition. But, with our hectic lifestyles today, we cannot always afford to visit beauty parlours or salons. Frequent visits to the beauty salon can also strain our finances.

For this reason, we can try an inexpensive and less time-consuming method to achieve that salon-like glow in the comfort of your home.

Let us learn how to do our own facials easily and comfortably at home:

  1. Cleansing: Daily, our skin is exposed to dust and many other pollutants that clog our pores, resulting in acne and oil deposition on the face. Therefore, cleansing is one of the initial things to eliminate those harmful pollutants. You can easily use a market-bought cleanser and dip it in water to clean your face. You can even use raw milk to cleanse your face if you don’t want to buy market-sold products.
  2. Scrubbing: As previously stated, harmful pollutants can clog our facial pores and cause a buildup of dead skin cells, which require exfoliation. To address this, use a commercially available facial scrubbing cream or create a natural scrub using ingredients like lemon, honey, and sugar. Mix a small amount of sugar with lemon juice and honey to make the natural scrub.
  3. Massage: After cleansing and scrubbing, we come to the most important step of the facial- the massage. Massaging helps to improve circulation and relieves stress and tension in the facial muscles.

You can use a facial cream in the market or easily prepare one at home. You need a little milk cream, a pinch of turmeric, and half a spoonful of gram flour and mix the three together. You must then massage the face with this paste for about 15 minutes. While massaging, you must remember that the fingers should move upward, from the bottom of the face to the cheekbones, to lift the facial muscles. This step helps the skin to get all the required nutrients and tightens it.

  • Steam: After massaging, you must take steam to unclog your pores and freshen up your skin. After this, you can wipe your face with a soft and clean towel.
  • Face Pack or Mask: The last facial step is applying a face pack or mask. Various products are available in the market, but you can prepare a mask at home using Multani mitti, sandalwood powder and rosewater. You must mix these ingredients, apply them to your face for about 15 minutes, and wash them out when it dries.

Conclusion

One can always adopt homemade products instead of using chemicals on the face. These easy and affordable home-based facials clean your skin, unclog your pores, nourish your face and restore its moisture without going to a beauty parlour.
