Everyone’s heartbeats are rising as time gets closer. The Day 1 of the grooming session with full of force at the Stardom Banquets at Delhi Haat, Janakpuri in Delhi. Hundreds of participants registered for the event through the official website of Mr & Miss City 2023 from across the nation. Out of which only 120 got through. And, the hunt for the best man and woman began with the grooming session on Day 1.
The day started with a power-packed Yoga session for the contestants, to energise them mentally and physically for the event. The Yoga instructor, Suresh, led the class. Everyone felt relieved after attending the session. Some after attending the session said that they felt an increase in their mental and physical energy.
Following that, the contestants were given dress rehearsals, during which the designer outfits created by the Janki Devi collage designers were worn. The attendees were instructed on how to conduct themselves throughout the session. The session was led by the show director, Mariyam.
The presence of fashion choreographer Vijay Roy, post lunch helped the practise advance to a new level. They received instructions on how to walk on the ramp while keeping a safe distance from other participants, as well as how to smile and play with their eyes. The participants were told that they have to walk in footwear in which they feel comfortable, and the same will be used throughout the grooming sessions.
While giving instructions, Vijay said, “You have to walk as in you are watching yourself in the mirror. Balance your body with straight eye contact with the people around you, and be confident while you walk. You also have to understand the balancing of the body with a smile.”
The competition’s judges will initially choose the top 15 competitors, after which 10 will be chosen, and the top five will go to the final round, according to fashion choreographer Vijay Roy.
The fashion choreographer also mentioned that coming forward, they would receive grades for all of their activities. He also offered advice on how to enter, turn midway, and return. Also, he advised the girls to check that the evening dresses have a front slit so they can show off their curves as they walk if they are using them as costumes. And, in addition, boys were told to walk with the attitude and carry themselves confidently.
Vijay further added, “In addition to the jury, people seated to the right or left award 1 point for the competition. Don’t be surprised as you walk through the door and encounter so many individuals. Imagine being myself while looking in the mirror.”
Although, contestants participated in the event from different cities. Some of them were questioned during the session.
Interviews are conducted at the occasion. How they learned about the event and they were also asked if they intended to pursue their modelling careers further.
Ashutosh Singh, a professional artist who also took part in Mr. Uttarakhand, learned about the event via one of his friends in Delhi. Models participated in the event as well. Finished in second place and was awarded Mr. Photogenic. And looking forward to the finale of Season 5 and will give his best.
Jasmine, a contestant who is tall and serious about her modelling profession, said she was fascinated by the event and will put her best to win the crown.
The contestants are all excited for the season’s climax. and will begin Day 2 with some additional training and application to give the season their best effort.
