India celebrates International Yoga Day, led by PM Modi

The International Day of Yoga is celebrated worldwide on June 21 each year. It is the brainchild of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who proposed it on 2014. The goal of the day is to promote the benefits of yoga in leading a healthy lifestyle. The theme of this year’s yoga day is “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family).

PM Modi will mark the date by performing yoga at 5:30 PM IST at the United Nations headquarters, alongside international dignitaries.

On the other hand, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh performed yoga on board INS Vikrant at Kochi. He was accompanied by Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw performed yoga at Balasore, Odisha, which was in news for a recent railway tragedy.
