As the vibrant fesival of colours, Holi, approaches, it brings with it immense joy and excitement. However, amidst all the fun and frolic, it's crucial to priortise the health of your skin and hair. The colours used during Holi, often made of harmful chemicals, can wreak havoc on your skin and hair if not adequately protected. Therefore, it's essential to indulge in some pre-Holi preparations to ensure a safe and enjoyable celebration.
Hydrate from Within
Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to Holi. This plumps your skin and hair, making them more resilient to the drying effects of colors and sun exposure.
Moisturize Thoroughly
Apply a generous amount of moisturizer to your face and body, paying special attention to areas prone to dryness like elbows, knees, and ankles. This creates a barrier that helps prevent color staining.
Oil Up Your Hair
A good hair oiling session a day or two before Holi is a must. Coconut oil, almond oil, or olive oil are great options. The oil creates a protective layer on your hair strands, minimizing color absorption and damage.
Sunscreen is a Must
Don't forget the sun! Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to all exposed skin at least 15 minutes before heading out to play Holi. Reapply every two hours, especially if sweating or staying outdoors for extended periods.
Create a Barrier
Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly or thick lip balm around your hairline, ears, and on your nails to create a barrier that can be easily wiped away later, taking color with it.
Dress for Protection
Choose comfortable, loose-fitting clothes made from natural fabrics like cotton. This allows your skin to breathe and makes it easier to remove color splashes. Consider wearing a bandana or hat to protect your scalp and hair further.
Opt for Natural Colors
Whenever possible, opt for organic, herbal colors made from natural ingredients like flowers and roots. These are gentler on your skin and hair compared to synthetic colors.
