“Hindi is the simplest source of expression of our nation,” said Sumitranandan Pant, one of the most celebrated Hindi poets of the 20th century. It is true that a country that does not have the pride of its language and literature cannot be advanced. Even Mahatma Gandhi once said that ‘a nation is dumb without national language’. The stature of a language is such that dedicating one’s entire life towards it would be less, let alone a day. But still, celebrating the ‘vibe’ of Hindi on this “Hindi Diwas” is not less joyful in any way.
‘Hindi Diwas’ is celebrated every year to promote awareness about the language across the world. Hindi language holds a significant place globally and is often considered as a symbol of India’s identity.
Hindi is the world’s fourth most spoken language after English, Spanish, and Mandarin.

Hindi Diwas is celebrated twice a year. However, on a global scale, World Hindi Day is observed on January 10 every year. In India, it is celebrated on September 14 every year.
On September 14, 1949, India accepted Hindi as the official language and the first Hindi Diwas was celebrated on this day in 1953 officially. The decision to make Hindi as one of the official languages was taken by the Constituent Assembly of India.
Hindi Diwas holds great significance in India as it celebrates the adoption of Hindi as the country’s official language. This day reminds us about India’s linguistic diversity and the importance of preserving and promoting Hindi as it is not only a language but a significant part of the country’s cultural identity.
