Maintaining healthy, glowing and radiant skin is equally important as physical fitness. It is the largest organ of our body which requires ample maintenance and care, just like any other part of our body. And people often ignore some of the common habits that can lead to serious skin concerns. And, a few of them can lead to acne breakout which is very usual these days.

Talking about the same, the experts share the list of some common mistakes a person should avoid before and after a workout or exercise. The very common mistake people make is applying makeup, which one should avoid doing. Remove all your make-up before heading to the gym, as it can block your skin glands and pores which will make it tough for your skin to breathe. Another big mistake that people often make is rubbing their face with a dry towel to remove the sweat, instead, they should either dab the skin or use the wet tissues. Rubbing the face with a dry towel can lead to rashes and redness.

Another common reason which can lead to acne-prone skin is not taking bath immediately after a workout. Taking shower after the workout not only helps in recovering muscles but also bounces back the ability for your next workout. Taking shower with warm water not only cleans your skin but also loosens up the stiff muscles after the workout.

Wearing sweaty or tight clothes can also lead to skin infections. After doing the workout, people generally like to go for a breather or check their phones, but wearing wet clothes can lead to serious problems, especially in the form of fungal or bacterial infections. Due to the clogged pores, pathogens get trapped in the skin, which creates more skin problems. Pathogens are infectious microbes that can cause sickness and disease. But one should remember that their body gets cool off 10-15 minutes before taking a post-workout shower and most important is staying hydrated.

Don’t touch your face again and again while doing the workout, as due to dirty hands your skin might get a bacterial infection. Carry your own toiletries and skin care products to avoid the spread of bacteria.

Apply an antiperspirant roll-on. It is a good idea because sweating when working out generally occurs. Applying an antiperspirant roll-on will help you feel protected and prevent your underarm skin from becoming a breeding ground for bacteria and germs.

And, if we talk about gym staples, whey is a very common consumable protein by fitness freaks. But to some people, it can also cause acne breakouts. Experts say that they can spike the androgen production in the body and can lead to a breakout. It can also aggravate hormonal acne. People can switch to vegan products instead.

Include shampooing in your post-workout routine. Although it is difficult to wash your hair every day. Wash your hair with a mild shampoo which will help in removing the extra oil from the skin which helps in promoting the acne on the forehead. Also, instead of using a blow dryer, dry your hair with a clean towel. Never exercise with your hair out in the open. Even if your hair is short, clip it back. It is advised to tie your hair back because it is impossible to wash hair products every day before working out; otherwise, hair products and sweat will clog pores and result in breakouts on the forehead.

Exfoliate your skin after the exercise. Applying a good serum and cooling gel can also be considered effective, in cooling down the temperature.

Regular exercise and routine are good for your health. But along with this skincare should also be the top priority. These easy and quick tips will help you maintain the natural, radiant and healthy skin on your hardest gym days.
