Ganesh Chaturthi, a major Hindu festival is just about here. While this festival is celebrated across the country with fervour and enthusiasm, the celebrations in Maharashtra are worth witnessing. Ganesh Chaturthi is also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi and Ganeshotsav. This marks the birth of Lord Ganesha and this year it will be starting from September 19 while the Visarjan will take place on September 28.
Ganpati Bappa, who is the son of Lord Shiv and Parvati, is worshipped on this auspicious day. His clay idols are placed either at home or publicly on Pandals. Modak and laddus are offered to Ganesha to have his blessings on their families.
