The festival of Navratri holds special significance in Hinduism. This 9-day long festival is dedicated to the worship of nine forms of Maa Durga. Chaitra Navratri and Shardiya Navratri are celebrated twice every year.
Chaitra Navratri falls in March-April, while Shardiya Navratri is celebrated in September-October. This year, Chaitra Navratri will run from March 30 to April 6. During these nine days, devotees worship Maa Durga and pray to fulfill their wishes. During Chaitra Navratri, a specific colour is considered auspicious every day. Women wear clothes of special colours these days, especially in Gujarat and Maharashtra. These auspicious colours are dedicated to the nine forms of Goddess Durga. The colour of the first day depends on the day on which Navratri begins, while the colours of the rest of the days are according to the fixed cycle.
