New Delhi: In a major escalation of regional tensions, a ballistic missile was launched from Yemen towards Tel Aviv early this morning, striking a target near Ben Gurion Airport. The missile, which traveled for approximately 13 minutes before reaching its destination, breached Israel's advanced multi-layered air defense system, including the Arrow, David's Sling, Iron Dome, and various aircraft and jamming systems. Despite multiple interceptor attempts by Israeli ground defenses, the missile evaded all efforts and hit its target.

The attack prompted over 2 million Israelis to seek refuge in shelters as the missile penetrated the country's defenses. Although specific details regarding the damage or the exact location of the impact remain undisclosed, initial media footage depicts injuries resulting from fragments of interceptor missiles.

The Israeli Air Force has acknowledged the failure of its defense systems to neutralize the threat and has initiated an investigation into the incident.

Yemeni Houthis claim responsibility for the attack

A spokesperson for Yemen's Houthi armed forces issued a statement detailing the operation. The spokesperson claimed:

“The missile force of the Yemeni Armed Forces, with divine assistance, executed a significant military operation targeting an Israeli military objective in the Yaffa region of occupied Palestine. Utilizing a newly developed hypersonic ballistic missile, the operation was successful. The missile, traveling approximately 2,040 kilometers in 11 and a half minutes, overwhelmed the enemy’s defenses, causing widespread fear and panic among the Zionists. This event marks the first time in history that over two million Zionists have sought shelter due to such an attack.”

The spokesperson described this strike as part of the fifth phase of their strategic campaign, highlighting the progress in missile technology and the ability to overcome both American and Israeli interception systems. They vowed continued support for the Palestinian people and anticipated further operations in response to alleged Israeli aggression, particularly against the city of Al-Hodeidah.

The missile strike by Yemeni Houthis represents a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict, underscoring the increasing sophistication of missile technology and the vulnerabilities in Israel’s defense systems. The incident has not only heightened regional tensions but also demonstrated the Houthis' capacity to challenge advanced defense mechanisms.
