An organizer of Art of Living has announced that the fourth World Culture Festival will be hosted in America’s capital Washington DC, this year. Several world leaders and many people and members from across the world will attend the event in Washington DC. The three-day mega event will be organised from September 29 to October 1 on the historic National Mall. The first three events were organised in Bengaluru, Berlin, and New Delhi in year 2006, 2011 and 2016, respectively.
According to a media release, the committee for the event is being led by Ban Ki-moon, who served as the 8th secretary general of the United Nations. It also includes many current leaders, former heads of states, members of the United States Congress and several spiritual leaders.
In a message from the District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Browser said, “We are incredibly excited and proud to announce that Washington DC will host the fourth World Culture Festival in 2023. From September 29 to October 1, we will come together on the National Mall for a celebration of culture, diversity and unity.” She also added that “As Washington DC welcomes the world, we invite all global citizens to join us in honour of Gurdev Sri Sri Ravishankar’s message that diversity is the beauty of creation.”
She further added, “We certainly know that to be true in Washington DC. It is the foundation of our DC values and the reason we are so excited to host the World Culture Festival.”
Art of Living, in a statement said that people from all over the world will come to participate in the festival, honouring and witnessing the rich human diversity which is expressed through music, art, food, meditation, inspirational talks and dance. People can obtain a free pass from the official website of the World Culture Festival. It will be the first time when the event will be organised in the US.
Art of Living is one of the largest volunteer-based non-profits in the world. They offer programmes for people and communities to lower the stress, improve mental health and build resilience. More than 500 million people in 180 countries are benefitted from the programmes and initiatives.
The World Culture Festival will feature the vibrant performances, with spectacular dance and music show from around the globe, showcasing the rich cultural diversity of USA. Tips and tools for the happiness, mental-health and well-being will be shared. People will also be able to learn meditation also, even if they are new. The world’s most delicious cuisine will also be served by the best food trucks during the event.
World Culture Festival was last organised in the capital of India, New Delhi on the Yamuna floodplains in March 2016. The event was embarked to celebrate the 35 years of Art of Living Foundation in service. Reportedly, the event was attended by 3.5 million people in the audience and 37,000 artists from all over the world in the three-day event. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with many leaders including Rajnath Singh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Devendra Fadnavis, Manish Sisodia, Arvind Kejriwal witnessed the third day of the event.
The foundation was also involved in the legal battle with the National Green Tribunal which allowed the festival after a fine of Rs 5 crore due to concerns about environment law violations.
Notably, more than 6 million people from across the globe came together at the first three World Culture Festival events which were held in Bengaluru in 2006, Berlin in 2011 and New Delhi in 2016.
