US Elections 2024: On Wednesday, US Vice President Kamala Harris shared her deep concerns about the possibility of Donald Trump returning to the White House in the upcoming November election. Following Trump's recent victory in the Iowa caucuses, the initial stage in the Republican nomination process, Harris urged Democrats to stand firm and "fight back" against this prospect.
During an appearance on 'The View,' an all-female talk show on the ABC network, the 59-year-old Vice President admitted, "I am scared as heck, which is why I'm traveling our country... we should all be scared." Harris emphasised the importance of not retreating in fear but rather confronting the challenge head-on.
Kamala Harris, our VP for those who have forgotten about her, is "scared as heck" after seeing Donald J Trump dominate in Iowa.

Harris's comments were prompted by reports suggesting that former President Barack Obama had reservations about the Biden campaign. Additionally, ex-first lady Michelle Obama had expressed being "terrified" at the prospect of a second Trump term. In response, Harris underscored the need to face fears with resilience and determination.
President Joe Biden has escalated his direct criticisms of Trump in recent times, highlighting the perceived threat posed by the twice-impeached former president, who is currently facing 91 criminal indictments. As the president's reelection campaign gains momentum, Harris assumes a more prominent role, aiming to mobilise key voter demographics, including Black, female, and young voters.
Despite being a triple trailblazer as the first female, first Black, and first South Asian vice president, Harris grapples with low approval ratings and consistent attacks from Republicans questioning her qualifications to assume the presidency if necessary.
Next week, Harris will embark on a nationwide tour to advocate for reproductive freedoms, aligning with Democrats' efforts to make abortion rights a central issue in the 2024 race. The tour kicks off in Wisconsin, a pivotal swing state, coinciding with the 51st anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision that established the constitutional right to abortion.
Trump has claimed credit for the court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade last year, attributing it to the appointment of conservative judges during his first term. Harris's focus on abortion rights received unexpected acknowledgment from Trump's former press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, who acknowledged its impact, particularly among young women.
