Why has Israel increased aid to artists during wartime?

Numerous Israeli artists experienced financial losses in areas like performances and cultural events since the beginning of the Gaza War.

Amid the ongoing tension with the neighbouring countries, Israel's Ministry of Culture and Sports announced additional aid to artists and increased its aid fund's budget by 400 percent. Now the artists will get 6 million Shekels which is 1.62 million in USD.

Israel has also reduced the minimum age for aid to 28. Earlier, the minimum age to receive aid was 40 and over and during the first Covid- 19 outbreak it was reduced to 35. 

Numerous Israeli artists experienced financial losses in areas like performances and cultural events since the beginning of the Gaza War. They also offered their services to perform for evacuees and soldiers without compensation.

Israel Minister of Culture and Sports Miki Zohar stated that Israeli artists volunteered fully and without any compensation, during the difficult time of the people of Israel. He added that the artist performed to make happy and encourage the evacuees and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), immediately after the outbreak of the Iron Swords war.
