New Delhi: CNN found itself in an unexpected situation as anchor Wolf Blitzer's health took a sudden turn during a live interview, prompting the network to abruptly cut to a commercial break. Blitzer, the host of "The Situation Room," appeared to be on the verge of vomiting while conducting an interview with White House Oversight Committee Ranking Member Jamie Raskin.

Blitzer's discomfort

During the interview on Thursday night, Blitzer, 75, struggled visibly to maintain his composure as he seemed to be repeatedly choking back discomfort. As Raskin discussed the dispute in Colorado over Donald Trump's appearance on the ballot, Blitzer's unease became increasingly evident.

CNN's response

Blitzer's distress reached a point where CNN made the decision to cut his feed, leaving Raskin to conclude the interview alone. Background audio during the feed cut suggested the severity of Blitzer's discomfort, resembling vomit-like sounds. The network swiftly transitioned to a commercial break, interrupting Raskin mid-sentence.

Upon the show's return, CNN's chief legal affairs correspondent Paula Reid stepped in as the host, informing viewers that Blitzer had to step away temporarily. Reid assured the audience that Blitzer would return soon, maintaining the continuity of the program.

CNN's statement and Blitzer's update

In response to the incident, CNN issued a statement to the Washington Post, confirming that Blitzer "wasn't feeling 100% while anchoring Thursday night." The network expressed Blitzer's anticipation of returning to "The Situation Room" and appreciated the outpouring of well wishes from viewers.

Blitzer himself later reassured concerned viewers about his health, stating on social media platform X, "I'm fine! Thanks for the well wishes. I'll see you back in the Situation Room soon." Blitzer's statement allayed fears among his audience about his condition and affirmed his intention to resume his hosting duties.

Social media reaction

Following the incident, social media platforms buzzed with messages of support and concern for Blitzer's well-being. Users expressed relief upon learning of Blitzer's recovery and wished him a speedy return to full health.
