After a disturbing video of three girls screaming and cursing at a family in the US Manhattan subway train surfaced all over the internet, the New York Police Department (NYPD) is now investigating a possible hate crime into this matter. The incident took place a couple of days ago on Thursday (August 03) aboard an F train in Greenwich Village, according to media reports.This viral video shows a trio of girls sitting directly across from the family just before one of them allegedly launched a pack of assaults on them. The accused girls were heard shouting at them, cursing at a woman, her husband and her 11-year-old twin daughters. Later, one of them also punched Lin, who recorded the entire assault, for capturing the uproar scene on her smartphone.Sharing the incident, Lin wrote, “Im in shock & still at a loss for words except for what I documented on the reel.”“ll be ok, just a bit sore on the head and tailbone,” she added.Victim Sue Youngs stance on this matterSpeaking to the media, the other woman victim, identified as Sue Young said that the violence started when the three girls began laughing and pointing at her, her husband and their 11-year-old twin daughters.“It was just insult, after insult, after insult. And, finally, my husband felt like he needed to step in and so he was like, Can you use some better words besides those” Young said. However, this only enraged the girls and they began threatening the victim and shouting at her family.Lin, who recorded entire assault, also attackedLin also had a word with the media, stating the moment when she was stormed over by one of them and allegedly pummelled her. She said, “She ran over, grabbed me by the hair, threw me on the ground and started punching me several times.”Further, the 51-year-old said that she couldnt watch Ms Lin being attacked without doing something to help so she got up to push the teen off Ms Lin, but thats when the same girl began punching her, she added.What happened to Young nextDuring the tumultuous incident, Young broke her glasses and had a headache for a couple of days because her hair was pulled. She even suffered two large bruises on her arm, said reports.Moreover, she said that other passengers came to her rescue and were able to stop the girls from inflicting further violence. She and her family, along with Lin, got off at the next station, where the police were called.Since the video of this matter went viral on the internet, grabbing vast reaction and condemnation, the NYPDs Hate Crime Task Force is now investigating the incident.
