According to the officials, over 70 people were arrested overnight nationwide protest, including 24 in Paris. Several buildings and vehicles were torched or vandalised during the violent protest.

In a statement, the officials said that around 159 vehicles were set ablaze and 202 fires set in rubbish bins or elsewhere in public areas.

Also, four offices came under attack, however, no one was injured in the riot.

President Macron’s government has established over 45,000 police personnel in the entire country, especially in three affected cities including Paris.

How it all started?

France has been witnessing a massive violent protest since 17-year-old Nahel M. Was shot dead by an officer during a pullover on the outskirts of Paris, rekindling long-standing allegations of systemic racism among security forces.

That’s not it, a mayor and his family were also attacked by the protestors, sustaining serious injuries.

Rallies held calling for an end to violence in France

Taking notes from the prevailing situation, several mayors on Monday held rallies calling for an end to violence.

The rallies were held after the home of the mayor of a Paris suburb was rammed by a burning car, prompting widespread outrage.

A total of 157 people have been arrested from Sunday to Monday night, resulting in a sharp decline from arrests that happened before.

On Tuesday, President Macron is set to meet with the mayors of 220 municipalities that suffered damage amid the violent protest.
