Crime News: A shocking incident in Missouri has left the community stunned. Michelle Y Peters, a 47-year-old woman from Lebanon, was arrested for allegedly poisoning her husband's soda because he did not appreciate the 50th birthday party she organized for him. Michelle Y Peters was taken into custody on Monday and faces serious charges including first-degree assault and armed criminal action. Court documents obtained by the New York Post revealed the details of the arrest and the motive behind the crime.

Unappreciated party

According to the police, Peters confessed that she wanted to be 'mean' to her husband because he did not show enough appreciation for the birthday party she had arranged. This led her to lace his Diet Mountain Dew with weed killer.

Husband's suspicion

The husband, whose name has not been disclosed, had started noticing a strange taste in his Mountain Dew weeks before the incident came to light. Initially, he ignored the odd taste and continued drinking the soda. However, he soon began experiencing severe symptoms including a sore throat, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and coughing up thick, brown-yellow mucus.

Discovery of poisoning

Growing suspicious, the husband reviewed security footage from their home. The footage allegedly showed Peters taking the soda and a bottle of weed killer into the house, and then returning them to their original spots. This led him to believe that his wife was intentionally poisoning his drinks.

In an attempt to protect himself, the husband placed new, untampered bottles of soda in the fridge. However, he suspected that Peters continued to poison the new bottles as well. The original bottle of weed killer was found empty, with a new bottle ready to be used.

Financial motive?

The husband speculated that his wife might have been motivated by financial gain. He mentioned that she had dramatically reduced the money transferred from their business account to their personal account. Additionally, he wondered if she was trying to collect on his $500,000 life insurance policy or if she was involved in an extramarital affair.

Official response

The Laclede County Sheriff’s Office responded to the husband’s complaint and arrested Peters based on the evidence and her confession. The case has highlighted the extreme measures some individuals might take when feeling unappreciated or resentful.
