The United States has urged India and Pakistan to engage in dialogue to prevent escalation and seek resolutions to bilateral issues, stated US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller on Tuesday.
Miller emphasized the importance of avoiding escalation and finding solutions through peaceful dialogue amidst recent remarks by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh regarding India's stance on counterterrorism operations.
Responding to questions about potential sanctions, Miller stated that the US does not openly discuss sanction actions, reaffirming the administration's policy of not commenting on such matters beforehand.
The spokesperson referenced the alleged assassination plot involving Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, highlighting the indictment of an individual, Nikhil Gupta, in connection with the case.
PM Modi's recent statement during a public rally in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, reiterated India's firm stance on counterterrorism efforts, highlighting significant decisions taken by the government.
