US airstrike on Houthi rebels (X/@B7frankH)
In a significant military action, the United States launched a series of powerful airstrikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen. Former President Donald Trump announced the decision on social media, stating that he had authorized military operations against the Houthis. Shortly after his statement, reports confirmed that U.S. forces had carried out targeted airstrikes, resulting in multiple casualties. According to initial figures, at least 24 people have lost their lives due to the attacks.
Videos emerging from the airstrikes showcase the aftermath, with thick plumes of smoke rising from Houthi-controlled territories. The bombings have caused widespread destruction, reducing parts of the rebel-occupied zones to rubble. The attacks were reportedly in retaliation for recent Houthi assaults on global shipping routes in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. These strikes, carried out in the context of the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza, were seen as an act of solidarity with Palestine.

The U.S. administration had previously expressed deep concerns over the threat posed by the Houthis to international trade and American vessels. In a strong statement on his Truth Social platform, Trump warned that if the attacks did not cease, the Houthis would face "a level of hell they have never seen before."
The airstrikes led to intense explosions in Houthi-occupied regions such as Sanaa and Saada. Reports from local authorities claim that 24 civilians, including women and children, were among those killed—13 in Sanaa and 11 in Saada. The destruction has fueled panic among residents, exacerbating tensions in the war-torn nation.
Following the military operation, the United States issued a direct warning to Iran, which has been accused of backing the Houthis. Trump cautioned that if Iran continued to support the rebels, it would face "severe consequences." He further asserted that the U.S. would hold Iran fully accountable for its role in the conflict.
