In a crime that appears to have been motivated by personal animosity, two persons were shot on Monday at a Gurdwara in Sacramento County, California, in the United States. Both victims are reportedly in critical condition. According to the authorities, the incident was a gunfight between two guys who knew one another, and a hate crime was ruled out. “A Gurdwara in Sacramento County, California, was shot at by two people. The shooting was a shootout between two males who knew one another and was not a hate crime, according to a statement from the Sacramento County Police.

According to the reports, both the victims are hospitalised at Kaiser Permanente and will survive and one of them may likely get arrested by the police. Police said that a fistfight broke out between two men at the Gurudwara premises, which later escalated to a shooting. The incident took place at the Gurudwara in Sacramento County, California on Sunday at around 2.30 pm local time. The incident took place at the Gurudwara Scramento Sikh Society Temple.

The authorities have ruled out that the incident is not a hate crime as both the victims knew each other. According to Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Amar Gandhi said, “All the participants in the altercation seemed to have known each other. This seems to have stemmed something far before this.” He further added that it has put a small stain on the peaceful and joyous day. He also claimed that the investigation is on in the case.

It is said that Deputies were observed leading two guys in handcuffs out of the procession at 3:30 p.m., however, it was unknown if either was a part of the incident. A large group of spectators, many of whom had their phones raised to record the action, watched in almost complete quiet as the guys were loaded into the backs of different Sheriff’s Office police cars. Deputies were going to stay at the scene until evening to look through mobile video and eyewitness accounts.

The incident happened during a group organised a procession on Sunday as a part of the Nagar Kirtan celebrations.
