Notably, not everyone named is accused of wrongdoing. The list includes abuse victims, witnesses, Epstein employees and those with only a passing connection. Some names were redacted.
Epstein allegedly sexually abused multiple teenage girls as young as 14 at his homes in New York, Florida and the Caribbean.
In 2019, federal prosecutors charged him with sex trafficking conspiracy and trafficking minors. He died by suicide in jail about a month later, prompting dropped charges.
His longtime partner Maxwell was convicted in December 2021 for aiding Epstein in recruiting and abusing underage girls. She is serving a 20-year sentence.
The release of lawsuit documents brings renewed public attention to Epstein's high-profile connections. However, presence on the witness list does not imply guilt.
Despite Epstein's death, authorities have continued investigating others potentially involved in the sex trafficking ring. Maxwell's conviction offered some justice to victims who courageously came forward.
The unsealing provides fuller transparency into the scandal as authorities pursue accountability for all responsible parties.
