United States: Do you guys know that the United States is all set to get its tallest building? Interestingly, this upcoming architectural wonder will not be built in New York City. Yes, it's happening! A real estate giant Matteson Capital has unveiled revised plans to build the tallest tower in the US, which is expected to be a 1,907-foot tall Boardwalk at Bricktown in downtown Oklahoma City.

Details of soon-to-be tallest building in US’s Oklahoma - Boardwalk tower

Reportedly, this ambitious project will exceed the height of New York's 1,776-foot Freedom Tower, currently the nation's tallest building. Matteson Capital said the exact height of 1,907 feet commemorates the year Oklahoma became the 46th state.

Originally planned to be 1,750 feet, the tower is part of a larger mixed-use development spanning 5 million square feet. This includes three shorter towers, 1,776 residential units, two Hyatt hotels, condominiums, and 110,000 square feet of commercial space.

What features does the building have?

The crown jewel Boardwalk tower will feature an observation deck, restaurant, and bar on the upper floors offering panoramic views.

Matteson Capital announced the height increase this week and intends to seek a variance from the city zoning board for approval. However, officials noted that a full rezoning of the property may be required versus just a variance.

Will Boardwalk Tower be 5th tallest building in the world?

At 1,907 feet, the Boardwalk will be the fifth tallest building globally upon completion. It will dramatically change the skyline of fast-growing Oklahoma City.

With a metro population approaching 700,000, Oklahoma City ranked as the 20th largest US city in the 2020 census. It has seen rapid expansion thanks to a thriving energy industry and economy.

Here’s what experts say…

Urban experts say the Boardwalk project will support future growth and cement Oklahoma City as an up-and-coming modern downtown. However, some have concerns over the tower's enormous height and potential impacts.

Matteson Capital remains confident the city will approve the record-setting skyscraper. The company believes it will become a landmark and source of pride for Oklahomans while attracting tourism and business.
