On Monday, a Ukrainian drone strike caused significant damage in Russia’s Saratov region, affecting two major cities. The attack resulted in a woman being injured and several homes suffering damage. Regional Governor Roman Basurgin provided details on the incident via Telegram, revealing that debris from intercepted drones damaged a residential complex in Saratov.
According to the social media sources, footage shows severe damage to a high-rise building in Saratov. The video highlights the blown-out windows and structural harm sustained across three floors. Another clip, shared on the platform X, depicts a drone crashing into a building, further illustrating the scale of the attack.

Governor Basurgin reported, “A woman was hospitalized in serious condition. Doctors are fighting for her life.” He also noted that emergency services had been deployed to the affected areas in Saratov and Engels, key cities situated several hundred kilometers southeast of Moscow.
Meanwhile, it is important to understand that the recent attack on Saratov is part of a broader conflict involving Russia and Ukraine, which has been ongoing since Russia’s full-scale invasion began in February 2022. Russia maintains a strategic bomber base in Engels, which has been targeted by Ukrainian strikes multiple times throughout the conflict. Both parties continue to deny targeting civilians amidst the protracted war.
The drone strike on Saratov follows a series of Russian attacks on Ukrainian territories. Ukrainian military sources reported that Russia launched strikes on northern, eastern, and southern Ukraine on Sunday, resulting in at least four deaths and 37 injuries. Ukrainian air force officials documented overnight attacks on frontline regions including Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Donetsk. In response, Kyiv's recent incursion into Russia's Kursk region aimed to disrupt Moscow’s offensive capabilities.
