The UK‘s most frequent child murderer was a British nurse who was found guilty on Friday of killing seven newborn infants and attempted to kill another six at the hospital neonatal unit where she worked.

Since last October, Lucy Letby, 33, has been on trial for allegedly overfeeding her newborn victims with milk, injecting them with air, and poisoning them with insulin. Her young victims were either ill or delivered prematurely.

After 22 days of deliberation, the jury at Manchester Crown Court in northern England returned all of their findings.

Letby was detained, following a series of infant fatalities at the newborn section of the Countess of Chester Hospital in northwest England between June 2015 and June 2016.

However, she was denying the claims. Meanwhile, her colleagues also raised the alarm that Letby was on duty when each of the babies collapsed. According to the court, her final attack was on two triples.

According to the sources, Letby got arrested and released twice after her third arrest in 2020 when she was formally charged and held in custody. The police, during the searches also found the hospital’s paperwork and a handwritten note saying “I am evil, I did this.”

However, during the proceedings, Letby defended herself by saying that hospital staff is using her to cover the hospital’s failing.

A UK-born Indian-origin consultant paediatrician Dr Ravi Jayaram from the Countless of Chester Hospital is among those who raised alarm over the killings and helped convict a nurse found guilty of killing seven babies by a UK court on Friday.

He said if they could have alerted the police little sooner, some of the lives could have been saved.
