The United Kingdoms Prime Minister has ordered a ban on Russian diamonds, the military-industrial complex, and metals as part of a new wave of sanctions in response to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Additionally, a prohibition on imports of copper, aluminium, and nickel with a Russian provenance has been imposed. It was estimated that this sector will generate USD4 billion in revenue in 2021.The diamond export restriction coincides with the continuing Russia-Ukraine conflict. The announcement was made by the UK Prime Minister Sunak on Thursday. taking it to Twitter, PM Rishi Sunak wrote, “Ensuring Ukraine wins is the most important thing we can do for global peace and security. The PM has also included visiting the A-Bomb dome site at the Hiroshima Peace Park before taking part in meetings on international cooperation, the G7 response to Ukraine, and Indo-Pacific security strategy.The United States will also announce fresh measures to severely restrict Russias access to products that are important for its military capabilities, according to a statement released in advance of the G7 summit in Japan. About 70 businesses and organisations will be placed on a sanctions list by the US because they sold prohibited US goods to Russia.
