Built by the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha, or BAPS society, the enormous Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi was officially opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.

Along with priests, PM Modi also offered prayers at the temple.

While speaking at event, "Today we have fulfilled the dream of Pramukh Swami Maharaj with the inauguration of the divine and grand temple in Abu Dhabi. The UAE government's unmatched contribution in this has won the hearts of 140 crore Indians."

The significant 840,000-strong Indian diaspora in Qatar was highlighted as a crucial link between the two countries.
Earlier, on the fringes of the COP28 conference in Dubai, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani of Qatar. During their meeting, they talked about bilateral relations and the "well-being of the Indian community" residing in Qatar.

After concluding his two-day visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi left the United Arab Emirates, heading to Qatar for the second leg of his two-nation tour.

As previously reported by the Ministry of External Affairs, PM Modi will have a bilateral meeting in Doha with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar.

In a post on X, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated stated, "Giving impetus to the historical and deep ties with Qatar! Prime Minister @narendramodi arrives on a visit to Doha. He was received by the Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, at the airport. Wide-ranging talks will be held with the Qatari leadership on strengthening the bilateral partnership."

PM Modi's visit to Qatar holds immense significance as it comes days after a diplomatic victory for India following the release of eight ex-Indian Navy personnel who were detained in Qatar for nearly 18 months since August 2022.

Eight ex-Indian Navy veterans who were detained on espionage charges, were released by Qatar on Monday. The release of eight Indian Navy veterans came after the death sentence was commuted earlier, after New Delhi's diplomatic intervention.
