Burj Khalifa, the tallest skyscraper in the world located in Dubai, lit up in the colours of the Indian national flag to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

As a part of a light and sound show organised at the Burj Khalifa on Friday to set the stage for PM Modi’s arrival in UAE, the skyscraper also displayed a picture of the Prime Minister with a message that read, “Welcome Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi”.

PM Modi is on an official visit to UAE after his widely publicised visit to France.

PM Modi receives ceremonial welcome from Crown Prince in UAE

The Prime Minister arrived in UAE on Saturday and was given a ceremonial welcome at the airport. He then met with Sheikh Khaled bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.

The Prime Minister thanked the Crown Prince on his Twitter handle, writing, “Grateful to Crown Prince HH Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for welcoming me at the airport today.”

PM Modi is scheduled to meet with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of UAE, to discuss critical bilateral issues.

“I look forward to the deliberations with HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, which will further deepen India-UAE cooperation,” the Prime Minister tweeted.

The visit will solidify the economic partnership between the two countries, which was described as ‘a significant milestone in the history of both nations’ by a statement from UAE.

The UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, had earlier set the target for non-petroleum trade between India and UAE at $100 billion by 2030. The new target was set after a meeting with Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on June 12.
