Twitter always comes with one development since Elon Musk took over the charge of the company. This time, the social networking site has limited how many tweets per day various accounts can read. It is done to discourage ‘extreme levels of data scraping’ and system manipulation, said Executive Chief Elon Musk in a post on social media on Saturday.

How many posts can the user read a day?

Briefing about the latest development, Musk said that verified accounts are temporarily limited to reading 6,000 posts a day, while the unverified accounts will be limited to 600 posts a day with new unverified accounts limited to 300.

In another post on Twitter, Elon Musk said that the temporary reading limit will be increasing soon to 8,000 posts per day for verified accounts, 800 posts per day for unverified and 400 posts per day for new unverified users. However, the billionaire has not revealed when these restrictions will be implemented yet.

Earlier, Twitter announced that it would require users to have an account on the social media platform to view tweets, a move that Elon Musk on Friday called a ‘temporary emergency measures.’

The CEO of Twitter said that hundreds of organisations or more were scraping Twitter data ‘extremely aggressively’, impacting user experience.

Twitter Blue programme

Earlier, Twitter took several steps to win back advertisers who left the social media platform under Musk’s ownership and to boost subscription revenue by making verification check marks a part of the Twitter Blue programme.
