Tragic! At least 58 die after boat carrying '300 people' to funeral sinks in Central African Republic's Bangu

The exact number of deaths is currently unknown and the government have not reacted till now.

In a tragic incident, at least 58 people going to a funeral died after their overloaded boat capsized in the Central African Republic's capital Bangui on Friday. 

The wooden boat was carrying more than 300 people over the Mpoko River in the capital, Bangui when it started to collapse. However, local boat pilots and fisherman rescued victims and collected bodies from the river. 

Death toll is rising  

The death is rising as the military takes over the search. The exact number of deaths is currently unknown and the government have not reacted till now. However, Civil society groups and local political parties are sending their condolences in social media posts and called for investigation into the sinking.
