At least 31 people have died after a bus plunged off a bridge in Mali on Tuesday. According to the sources, the bus had been en route to neighboring Burkina Faso from the Malian town of Kenieba when it veered off a bridge crossing the Bagoe river. It is anticipated that the probable cause of the incident could have been that driver lost control over the bus. The tragic incident happened on Tuesday evening, the ministry said, adding that among the victims were Malians and people from other countries in the West African subregion. The bus was headed to Burkina Faso.In West Africa, where public transportation is frequently overcrowded and inadequately regulated, road accidents are more common.According to UN data from 2023, even though just 2% of all vehicles worldwide are found in Africa, the continent is responsible for about 25% of all traffic fatalities worldwide.
