Thousands of supporters of British anti-Islam activist Tommy Robinson staged a demonstration on Saturday in central London, shouting anti-Muslim epithets, according to international media reports.

One of the most well-known far-right activists in the UK, Robinson, together with English actor and broadcaster Laurence Fox, were seen spearheading the demonstration while supporters shouted, "We want our country back." A banner bearing the words "This is London, not Londonistan" was carried by protesters.

On stage, Robinson declared, "This is how London ought to look." We won't put up with quiet any longer. He expressed gratitude to the Metropolitan Police for "staying out of our way."

However, the reports claim that nine pro-Palestinian activists from Youth Demand have been arrested for breaching Public Order Act conditions not to leave the pavement.

Taking it to social media, the Metropolitan Police said that All Londoners have a right to feel and be safe in their city and we will take a zero-tolerance approach to any racially or religiously motivated hate crime we become aware of.
