The accident, which occurred around 3:30 PM just past White Street, involved several vehicles and left the victims car engulfed in flames. According to the sources, among the deceased were two individuals from Hyderabad, identified as Aryan Raghunath Orampati and his friend Farooq Shaik. Aryan, who lived in Bentonville, was returning home after visiting his cousin in Dallas, while Lokesh was on his way to visit his wife. Darshini, a recent Masters graduate from the University of Texas at Arlington, was traveling to visit her uncle. The use of the carpooling app helped authorities identify the victims quickly.Aryans father, Subhash Chandra Reddy, who owns Max Agri Genetic Private Limited in Hyderabad, shared that his son had recently completed his engineering degree from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in Coimbatore. Aryan had initially planned to return to India after his convocation but decided to stay in the US for two more years to gain work experience. His father, Masthan Vali, a retired private employee from Hyderabad, expressed his grief, noting that his daughter, also in the US, is managing the situation.The crash, which involved five vehicles, was reportedly caused by a speeding truck that failed to slow down, rear-ending the SUV carrying the victims. The impact caused the SUV to burst into flames, trapping the occupants inside. Due to the severe fire, the bodies were charred beyond recognition. Authorities are now relying on DNA fingerprinting to identify the victims, using bone and dental remains. The identification process has been delayed due to the long holiday weekend in the US, further adding to the families anguish. Darshinis parents, who had been in regular contact with her until shortly before the crash, have appealed to Indias Union External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, for assistance.Local police and fire departments responded to the scene, diverting traffic as the highway remains closed.
