Terrorists Hijacked Train in Pakistan:  The Balochistan Liberation Army has claimed to have taken all the passengers on board the Jaffar Express in Pakistan's Bolan hostage. The BLA opened heavy fire on the Jaffar Express train going from Quetta in Balochistan to Peshawar. It is being told that more than 400 passengers were on the train. Pakistani security forces are moving towards the area. In its statement, the BLA described the operation in Mashkaf, Dhadar and Bolan as "a carefully planned operation".

According to news agency Reuters

militants opened fire on a passenger train in southwestern Pakistan on Tuesday, injuring the train driver and causing panic among the passengers. The train was going from Quetta in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province to Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Officials have not yet given details of the damage caused or whether there are any reports of passengers being injured. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a militant separatist group in Pakistan, has claimed responsibility for the attack. In a statement, the BLA also claimed that it had taken several people, including security personnel, hostage from the train.

Baloch Army threat

The group said, "Our freedom fighters blew up the railway track, forcing the Jaffar Express to stop. The fighters quickly took control of the train and took all the passengers hostage." The BLA issued a stern warning, saying, "If the occupying forces attempt to take any military action, the consequences will be severe. All the hundreds of hostages will be killed, and the responsibility for this bloodshed will be entirely on the occupying forces."

Six military personnel have been killed

Confirming the casualties, the BLA said, “So far six military personnel have been killed and hundreds of passengers are in BLA custody.” Baloch Liberation Army spokesman Zeand Baloch reiterated that the group “takes full responsibility for this operation.”

Long running conflict in Balochistan

Security forces have been sent to the area and the attack is under investigation. In fact, Pakistan's Balochistan region is a resource-rich but conflict-ridden province. There has been a long-running insurgency in the area by separatist groups demanding independence or more autonomy. There have been repeated attacks on security forces, infrastructure and civilians in the region in recent years.
