A Khalistan Freedom Rally is being organised at the Indian consulates in Toronto and Vancouver on July 8 as a protest over the murder of pro-Khalistan militant Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Nijjar, the chief of Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), was shot dead in a gurudwara in Surrey, British Columbia, on June 18.

The Khalistani group Sikhs for Justice (SJF) have scheduled a so-called ‘Khalistan Freedom Rally’ in front of the Indian consulates in Toronto and Vancouver to protest against the murder of Nijjar, for which they blame India.

The march in Toronto will start from Malton in the Greater Toronto Area and will end at the Indian Consulate in Toronto.

Ontario-based journalist Jagdeep Singh shared visuals on Twitter that showed the SJF preparing for the rally in Toronto.

According to social media posts, similar rallies are also being held in London, Melbourne, and San Francisco.

Khalistan group falsely blames India for Nijjar murder

While the Canadian authorities are currently investigating the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, major pro-Khalistan groups like SJF put the blame on Indian authorities in Canada.

Several posters have turned up across the Greater Toronto Area in which Indian diplomats stationed in Canada were labelled as ‘Shaheed Nijjar’s Killers in Canada’. The three people featured on the posters were India’s High Commissioner in Ottawa Sanjay Kumar Verma, Consul General in Toronto Apoorva Srivastava, and Consul General in Vancouver Manish.

Similar posters were also seen in Melbourne and San Francisco targeting Indian diplomats in Australia and the US.

Pro-Khalistan activities have been on the rise in Canada, the UK, and other countries with Sikh diaspora. Indian diplomats have been threatened, and the Indian Consulate in San Francisco suffered an arson attack on March 19.
