Ryan Wesley Routh, the individual currently under investigation for a second attempted assassination of Donald Trump, co-authored a book with his fiancée, Kathleen Schaffer. The book, published last year, delves into the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and includes disturbing commentary on Trump.

Details of the book

Titled "Ukraine's Unwinnable War: The Fatal Flaw of Democracy, World Abandonment, and the Global Citizen-Taiwan, Afghanistan, North Korea, and the End of Humanity," the book reflects Routh's critical perspective on the war and Trump's political role. Routh argues that while Ukraine may appear to be losing, global support is crucial for its victory. He emphasizes the book's importance in understanding why failure is not an option and the measures necessary for success.

Controversial statements on Trump

In the book, Routh disparages Trump and controversially endorses his assassination. He writes, “I must take part of the blame for the retarded child that we elected for our next president that ended up being brainless, but I am man enough to say that I misjudged and made a terrible mistake and Iran I apologize." He further provocatively states, “You are free to assassinate Trump as well as me… No one here in the US seems to have the balls to put natural selection to work or even unnatural selection.”

Attempted assassination incident

On Sunday, Trump was on the golf course at his West Palm Beach club when US Secret Service agents spotted a rifle barrel protruding through a fence. Routh, driving a black Nissan, was shot at but managed to flee. He was quickly apprehended, and investigators found a GoPro camera, two backpacks, and an AR-style rifle near the course. This was the second attempt on Trump’s life in just two months.

Background and activities of Routh

Routh, who operated a website recruiting fighters for Ukraine, had previously been featured by The New York Times for his recruitment efforts. He even sought to enlist Afghan soldiers for the Ukraine conflict. Routh has financially supported Democratic candidates and progressive causes and expressed strong anti-Trump sentiments, calling Trump a failure and expressing his hope for Trump’s removal.
