US: In a shocking development in the Chicago shooting spree, 23-year-old Romeo Nance, wanted as a suspect who killed eight people in suburban Chicago in two days, shot himself to death following a confrontation with law enforcement officials in Texas. Sharing a post on Facebook, the police said Nance was traced near Texas’ Natalia after which he shot himself dead.

Reportedly, Nance was suspected of fatally shooting eight people at three locations in the Chicago suburbs, leading to a manhunt that left the neighbors on the edge and high vigilance earlier Monday as police warned he was still on the loose and should be considered 'armed and dangerous.'

However, the police said the motive was unclear, but Nance knew the victims.

Overview of Chicago killings

The victims were found Sunday and Monday at three separate residences.

Authorities believe the suspect in the shooting spree that killed 8 people in Illinois was also involved in another incident on Sunday that wounded a man in Joliet. However, officials did not elaborate on the evidence connecting him to the earlier shooting.

Police had staked out one of the suspect's known addresses Sunday night hoping he would return. After getting no response at one home, they checked a linked residence and made the first grim discoveries.

Later, two more bodies were found at a third house and the death toll rose to 8. The manhunt continues for the perpetrator whose rampage has rocked the Chicago suburb.
