Four indigenous children who were missing for more than a month now, in the Colombian Amazon rainforest, have been found alive after forty days. President Gustavo Petro informed on Friday that these children were missing after a small plane crash took place almost forty days back.

The President informed that these children belong to the Huitoto Indigenous group aged 13, nine, four and one. The children had been wandering alone since May 1, 2023 after their aircraft Cessna 206 crashed. President Gustavo Petro informed that the children are weak right now and doctors are making their assessments.

It should ne noted that on May 1, the pilot, immediately after the take-off started complaining about the engine. The aircraft took off from a jungle Araracuara to San Jose del Guaviare. The plane crashed in the Amazon rainforest jungle soon after the take-off. Bodies of the pilot, a local indigenous leader and the mother of these children were found at the crash site.

Ever since this incident had taken place, a huge search by soldiers and other indigenous people who know these jungles, was on. The search team followed footprints, half-eaten fruit, a diaper and other such clues to reach the children.

The search team was informed that these children knew hunting, fishing and gathering.
