In a bizarre turn of events, a Chinese student caused a fire on a university campus after setting his inflatable doll 'girlfriend' on fire. The incident, which occurred at Hefei University of Technology in Anhui province, has gone viral on social media, with users mocking the student’s actions.

On February 10th, a student at the university panicked when his roommate returned earlier than expected. To hide his inflatable doll, he set it on fire. Initially, he tried to burn the doll in the dormitory corridor, but the fire quickly spread, triggering the campus fire alarm.

The fire spreads and the immediate response

Footage circulating online shows smoke and flames spreading through the dormitory corridor. Fortunately, the fire was quickly contained, and no injuries or property damage were reported. The student involved has since been given a warning for his actions.

A university official explained, “The inflatable doll was set on fire in the dormitory corridor. The security guards immediately contacted the fire department, and the situation was brought under control.” The university reassured everyone that no property was damaged and no one was harmed during the incident.

Precautionary measures and warnings from the university

Following the fire, the university issued a statement urging students not to use open flames with inflatable or other flammable materials. They also advised students to dispose of unused items safely.

The incident has sparked intense reactions online. One user commented, “What should have been a private matter is now public knowledge on the internet.” Others raised concerns about the student’s mental state and pointed out that burning plastic not only emits a foul odor but is also harmful to the environment. Some users also viewed the incident as a public safety violation, stressing that open flames in crowded places should be considered a crime.
