Singapore Airlines encounters severe turbulence en route, leaving 1 dead and several injured

Due to extreme turbulence, a Singapore Airlines SIAL.SI flight from London made an emergency landing in Bangkok on Tuesday. According to the airlines, the aircraft diverted to Bangkok and landed at 3:45 pm local time on May 21. One passenger died and there were injuries reported, as per the official X handle of the airline.

However, the exact number of causalities is not yet disclosed by Singapore Airlines. Media reports claim the number to be thirty.

In a string of tweets, the airline released a statement stating that the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew members, was on its route to Singapore when it made the emergency landing.

Taking it to their official X handle, the airlines assured of possible assistance to all the passengers and crew on board.
“We are working with the local authorities in Thailand to provide the necessary medical assistance, and sending a team to Bangkok to provide any additional assistance needed,” the message reads.

The Exact cause of incident is yet to be ascertained.
