Famous rapper, a 12-time Grammy nominee, Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, popularly known as Nicki Minaj seems to have opened a can of worms for herself. The international singer-songwriter was arrested at the Amsterdam Schiphol Airport on suspicion of carrying and possessing drugs.

Nicki streamed the incident in a live video on her Instagram handle, where the Amsterdam Police were seen searching her belongings and interrogating her in connection with the matter. In the video that is going viral, she said to the officer that she was not carrying drugs and pleaded to have her lawyer present with her. The officers have said that they would help bring her to her show which is scheduled in cities including Manchester, Birmingham and three others.

In the second video that she posted on Instagram, an official was seen telling her that the police would check all her belongings. In a post on X, Nicki spoke about the entire incident saying that filming every single thing made them mad.
The singer was allegedly carrying marijuana pre-rolls in one of her bags. She claimed that the drug belonged to her security personnel, landing her in trouble related to ownership of the drug. Her fans have been protesing outside the jail, demanding for her release.

Though Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, is widely known as a destination famous for marijuana, the drug is prohibited in the country, only decriminalized for personal use. But talks on legalizing the drug have been around the corner that began with a pilot program approved in September to legalize it in two Dutch cities excluding Amsterdam.
