The protestors waved the Khalistani flags outside the Indian Consulate building in San Francisco on Wednesday, amid high security. The latest protest came after the protestors vandalised the Indian flag at the Consulate and the crackdown against Khalistani preacher Amritpal Singh.

According to the reports, over 200 protestors gathered out the building and were chanting pro-khalistan slogans while being surrounded by the San Francisco police department heavily barricaded the area. The protestors made the anti-Indian slogans and slammed the Punjab police over the violation of the human rights in Punjab.

India summoned the top British diplomat earlier this week to express its displeasure with the activities committed by “separatist and extremist forces” against the nation’s embassy in London.

The Consul General of India at San Francisco Ambassador Nagendra Prasad tweeted on Wednesday and thanked the enforcement agencies for securing the premises. “Thank you @SFPDChief for the assurances. Met Chief Scott to discuss the attack on @CGISFO Chancery building on March 19 and request to raise the level of protection to the Consulate premises and personnel.”

UK Foreign Secretary called the attack ‘Unacceptable’

James Cleverly, the foreign minister of the United Kingdom, announced on Wednesday that the nation will examine security at the Indian High Commission in London in response to “terrible acts of violence” against the mission’s workers.

He said that the act of violence is unacceptable by the protestors against the Indian High Commision in London. He further added that the police security in the area is beefed up after the incident and investigation in the case is going on. Cleverly, also said that they are in direct contact with the Indian High Commission in United Kingdom and Indian government in Delhi.

Cleverly made the statement, “We are working with the Metropolitan Police to review security at the Indian High Commission, and will make the changes needed to ensure the safety of its staff as we did for Wednesday’s demonstration.”

US condemns attack on Indian Consulate

Vandalism at the Indian Consulate in San Francisco, according to White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby, is totally unacceptable and is condemned by the US.
