Serbian authorities claim that they have apprehended a 21-year-old man called Uros B, who is accused of killing at least eight people in a random shooting in the town of Dubona, 60 km southeast of Belgrade.

Following the killings in Dubona, the suspect escaped and continued his killing spree in the Serbian villages of Mali Orasje and Sepsin, both located in the Mladenovac municipality. Over 600 personnel from Serbian Special Forces, including various law enforcement units, helicopters, and thermal imaging cameras, were involved in the manhunt for the attacker. According to local media accounts, a police officer and his sister were among those killed. Relatives of the wounded have begun to arrive at the Mladenovac Emergency Centre. Images taken at the scene show heavily armed security officers stationed at checkpoints and police cars blocking surrounding roadways. The shooting in Dubona and adjacent towns happened one day after a 13-year-old boy shot at his classmates at a school in Belgrade, killing eight kids and a security officer. Prior to these instances, despite high levels of gun ownership in Serbia, mass shootings were rare. Due to years of violence in the 1990s, the country has the highest rate of civilian gun ownership in Europe and is among the top five in the world.
