Saveera Parkash, a Hindu woman from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan's Buner district, has filed her nomination papers for a general seat in the next elections set for February 8, 2024, according to the sources. It is anticipated to be a significant move in Pakistan’s politics. This is a momentous milestone for Parkash, who wants to run on the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) ticket in the same party as her father, Oam Parkash, a retired physician who has been a committed PPP member for the last 35 years.

Saveera Parkash is the general secretary of the PPP women's wing in Buner. She is medical student and has recently graduated from Abbottabad International Medical College. On December 23, she turned in her nomination documents for the PK-25 general seat in the Buner district. She might become the first female candidate from Buner to run for a general seat if she receives the PPP leadership's endorsement.

During an interview, Parkash reaffirmed her dedication to the community's well-being, emphasising her support of women's rights and creating a secure atmosphere for them. She emphasised the historical undervaluation and discrimination against women in the development field and vowed, should she be elected, to solve these problems.

In an effort to improve female representation in politics, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) recently amended its rules to require five percent of candidates to be women for general seats. The candidature of Saveera Parkash is evidence of the changing landscape and growing involvement of women in Pakistani politics.
