Saudi Airlines with 297 passengers on-board catches fire at Peshawar Airport | VIDEO

The report stated that the pilot was instantly informed of the problem by the air traffic controller, and the Fire and Rescue Services arrived in time to extinguish the fire and prevent a serious accident. The inflatable slide allowed for the safe evacuation of all 276 passengers and 21 staff members from the aircraft.

New Delhi: Pakistan's soil faced another debacle on Thursday when a Saudi Airlines plane caught fire. The plane was reported to have over 297 passengers on board.  As per the reports, the mishap was said to occurred because of an alleged issue with the landing gear. The crew, alng with the passengers were rescued without any casualties on its way from Riyadh to Peshawar. 

Airlines clarified that the plane was on fire!

Saudi Airlines issued a statement mentioning that the aircraft faced the fire after smoke started to surface on the plane from the tires while landing at the Peshawar International Airport in Pakistan."Saudia clarified that its aircraft, flying from Riyadh to Peshawar on flight SV792, experienced smoke emanating from one of the tires during landing at Peshawar International Airport in Pakistan," it said.  The aircraft was stopped right away, and the appropriate authorities were informed. Via the evacuation slide, all visitors and staff were safely removed. Experts are currently evaluating the aircraft technically, the statement continued.

Rescued in hassle
