A Russian warplane crashed on Tuesday while training in the Southern Russia. There were two members inside the plane, no report has been given on the condition of the crew. The Russian Defence Ministry said that the Su-24 bomber went down in an unpopulated area in the Volgograd region and rescue helicopters were deployed to the site.
According to media reports, the plane is said to have crashed in the southern Volgograd region during a training flight. The Ministry also said that there was no ammunition in the plane and it crashed into a deserted area.
The reason behind the crash has not yet been uncovered. Search operations are underway for the flight and the crew members, according to sources.
The Su-25 plane that crashed is a twin-engine supersonic bomber that has been in service with the Soviet and Russian air forces since the 1970s. Both Russia and Ukraine have been using this plane extensively during the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
Russian flights have seen multiple deadly crashes since the onset of Russia’s occupation of Ukraine in February 2022.
According to media reports, a pilot died in a plane crash in July while training over the Azov Sea, near Ukraine. On October 22 as well 15 people were killed when a Su-34 collided with some buildings in the Russian town of Yeysk not far from Ukraine.
