The neighbourhood White Helmets emergency response organisation in the latest update have informed that Russian fighter jets bombarded a city in Syria’s rebel-controlled Idlib region, resulting in nine fatalities and scores of injuries.

The air strike that took place in the Jisr al-Shughur incident on Sunday damaged a fruit and vegetable market. According to one witness who spoke with CNN, the “missile had so much pressure and the sharpness hit the crowded market.”

The white hamlets also informed that the second airstrike in the area is just ahead of the Muslim festival, Eid al-Adha, in the Muslim-majority country. The area is also witnessing artillery firing for the last four days.

The bombing is reportedly the bloodiest to have taken place in northwest Syria so far in 2023, according to CNN’s reports. Russian military flights over the nation have recently displayed a pronounced hostility.

The US sent F-22 fighter fighters to the Middle East earlier this month due to worries about the unprofessional and risky behaviour of Russian aircraft.
