Indo-Russia Ties: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has affirmed Russia's commitment to support India's initiative in producing military products as part of the 'Made In India' program. The statement came after a meeting with India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, during which both nations took significant steps to broaden cooperation.
Lavrov addressed a press conference, highlighting the discussions on military and technical cooperation, specifically joint production of modern weaponry.
Emphasising the strategic nature of their cooperation, Lavrov stated, "We are ready to support their initiative to produce military products as part of the 'Made in India' program."
This signals Russia's readiness to collaborate in the production of military equipment under India's ambitious 'Make In India' initiative.
The foreign ministers also agreed to expand the legal framework of India-Russia relations. Lavrov disclosed plans for the North-South International Transport Corridor and the Chennai-Vladivostok route, further boosting economic ties.
He expressed Russia's willingness to accelerate the adoption of agreements, including mutual protection of investment and a free trade area between India and the Eurasian Economic Union.
Lavrov revealed specific agreements between the two nations to deepen trade, economic, and investment links. Talks between Jaishankar and Russian leaders affirmed that the India-Russia relationship is built on mutual respect and is not swayed by political fluctuations. Lavrov stressed the importance of continuing political dialogue to enhance relations on a sustainable basis.
Reflecting on the Moscow-New Delhi relationship, Lavrov stated, "The relations between Moscow and New Delhi are based on the confidential nature of mutual respect. They are not subject to any political fluctuations." The commitment to a special privileged strategic partnership was reiterated during Jaishankar's visit.
The meeting between the foreign ministers signifies a continued effort to strengthen diplomatic, military, and economic ties between Russia and India. As both nations navigate various areas of collaboration, the strategic partnership remains a cornerstone for mutual growth and cooperation.
