Russian drones have bombed ‘Reni’ and ‘Izmail’ ports numerous times recently. The two are said to be the biggest ports in Ukraine.
Russian drones attacked the Danube River in southern Odessa on Sunday for three and a half hours, damaging the port’s infrastructure. Ukrainian officials reported that the bombings injured two people.
Since a UN-mediated agreement that had permitted Kyiv to ship its grain via the Black Sea collapsed in July, the Danube has emerged as Ukraine’s primary grain export route and a prime spot for the Russians to target.
According to the reports, 22 of the 25 Iranian-made Shahed drones that Russia launched on the Odessa region in the early hours were shot down by Ukraine’s air defense systems.
The Ukrainian president’s chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, mentioned in a recent statement that the Russians were attacking the port in the hope of provoking famine and food crises, along with adding the details of the two civilians who were injured in the attack.
Authorities declined to specify which port facility was damaged. According to the military, a fire that started at the facility because of the attack was immediately put out. One of Ukraine’s two main ports on the Danube, Reni, was the scene of explosions, while Russia has not responded as of now. Russian drones have bombed ‘Reni’ and ‘Izmail’ ports numerous times recently. The two are said to be the biggest ports in Ukraine.
