New Delhi: A surprising mix of events unfolded at the recent Republican National Convention (RNC), this event caught the attention of viewers and commentators across social media platforms. Reason behind this was prayer delivered by former US Senate candidate Leora Levy.

In her prayer, Levy focused intensely on Israel, invoking blessings for Jerusalem, the children of Abraham and even mentioning hostages related to Israel. What stood out to many was Levy's omission of any mention of Jesus Christ, which might have been expected at an event held by a party claiming strong Christian values.

Religious inclusivity takes center stage at RNC

Further adding to the diverse religious elements of the evening was Harmeet Dhillon, who closed the RNC session with a Sikh prayer (ardaas) to Trump. This choice puzzled some, especially considering the Republican Party's self-identification as a Christian-oriented party.

The inclusion of Sikh prayer which is unfamiliar to many in the predominantly Christian audience changed their facial experience and sparked discussions about the party's stance on religious inclusivity.

In addition to these moments, the convention introduced a new nominee for vice president, who made headlines by announcing a stance advocating for conflict with Iran and China. This stance on international relations drew significant attention and sparked discussion within and outside the convention hall.

Universally, the 2024 RNC presented a series of surprising and thought-provoking moments that showcased a unite of religious expressions and geopolitical positions that reflect the diversity and complexities within the Republican Party today. These events have sparked conversations about the party's identity and direction as the election season progresses.
